Wright, Robinson, Osthimer & Tatum has managed document projects since its inception. In the early years, the firm managed mass document projects for the toxic shock syndrome and asbestos litigations. The firm was proficient in collecting large volumes of paper documents from client facilities, as well as reviewing and producing those documents in a systematic fashion. In the 80’s, Wright Robinson became one of the first firms to manage litigation documents as electronic images and in databases.

The firm officially established its Support and Information Management practice group, called “SIM,” as corporations and other law firms increasingly sought the firm’s document expertise and infrastructure. The launch of SIM coincided with the rise of reliable, robust and affordable technology solutions for legal document management, the power of which SIM harnessed and now uses to control costs and produce an unparalleled work product on a shorter timeline.

SIM is a unique practice group dedicated solely to managing document projects and consulting on forensic document issues. The group’s mission is to provide its clients with economic and strategic solutions to their litigation document problems by combining cutting-edge technology and proven workflow models, all under the direction of a seasoned team of attorneys, paralegals and technology managers.

Although SIM’s clients are mainly corporations, SIM is regularly engaged as special discovery counsel by other law firms, usually firms seeking document and technology expertise, infrastructure and competitive Richmond billing rates. Also, SIM has partnered with consulting firms and select litigation support companies to better serve its clients. For example, SIMEnergy, developed in partnership with TriCon Power Group, provides electronic support and information management services designed specifically for the power industry.
