Before joining Wright Robinson in January, 2007, Mr. Mavis was Managing Counsel for Product Litigation Discovery at Ford Motor Company. Mr. Mavis spent 26 ½ years with Ford’s Office of the General Counsel, 8 ½ years as an attorney with General Motors Corporation and 5 years in the United States Army Judge Advocate General Corps. Both at General Motors and at Ford, Mr. Mavis worked in the area of Product Litigation with an emphasis on restraint systems; air bags; fuel-fed fires; vehicle handling, suspension, steering and brakes; unwarranted acceleration and vehicle crashworthiness.
In addition to extensive Product Litigation experience, Mr. Mavis worked in the areas of vehicle safety, document retention, warnings, witness preparation, and government investigations gaining significant insight with respect to all areas of automotive litigation defense practice. In addition, he has been involved in the management of large scale document sweeps and productions involving both hard copy and electronic documents and privilege reviews. He lectured extensively at Ford on topics such as document creation and retention, effective report writing and product litigation. Mr. Mavis has more than 30 years experience in case evaluation, mediation and settlement and maintains extensive contacts with counsel representing both defendants and plaintiffs in Product Litigation.
